Study Site Highlights

These images show native salt marshes in temperate China. These marshes are dominated by an annual succulent - Suaeda salsa, which is purple or pink in color in all seasons except winter, forming a unique salt marsh ecosystem. These marshes are also harbours/homes for abundant animal species, such as the marsh crab Helice tientsinensis and the red-crowned crane Grus japonensis, a conservation icon for coastal wetlands in East Asia.
